10 outstanding Japanese actors & actresses

A country like Japan is full of mysticism and is a popular format for entertainment media, from video games to books, in this country and throughout the western world.

In the meantime, many Japanese actors have also made it far and enjoy great popularity outside the Land of the Rising Sun. The basis for this is usually an outstanding acting performance, but production and the aforementioned mysticism of Japan also play a role.

The result is a large number of Japanese actors who are now also well-known in Germany and other countries. Their origins are often relatively unknown, as the acting performance takes centre stage.
We would therefore like to show you some of the most famous Japanese actors so that you can get to know them better.

It is not unusual for Japanese dramas to achieve world stature

The so-called Global West, i.e. North America and Europe, are particularly spoilt and influenced by entertainment media.

Hollywood dominates across national borders for the most important productions and biggest film successes. However, it is by no means impossible for actors and films to make it outside of Hollywood, even if the path often leads to Hollywood.

Japanese films and productions also have the potential to do this and are now better than ever at ensuring that they are recognised around the world. There are opportunities for dubbing, and Japan has also been a respected country for years, and not just internationally.

Famous Japanese actors of the 20th century.

These days, an incredible number of films are produced every year, and it's not easy to keep track of them all.

There used to be far fewer of them, of course, and perhaps this is another reason why Japanese films were able to establish themselves worldwide as early as the 1950s.

Particularly noteworthy here is actor Toshiro Mifune, who was able to enjoy many roles in the second half of the last decade and a resulting international reputation.

But the Japanese actor and composer Hiroyuki Sanada, who is still successful today, also enjoyed his first successes in the last century and got his career rolling.

A popular TV series in Germany, which has been particularly popular since the 1990s and in the 2000s, is Takeshi's Castle.

What few people know is where the name actually comes from. The actor and director Takeshi Kitano was a producer and received several awards for his work.

So Japan has certainly managed to produce some famous Japanese actors and other greats in the last century who were and are of great importance beyond the country's borders.

Why are Japanese actors & Japanese films so popular?

Another recipe for success for many Japanese films is the culture of Japan, which also causes a stir outside the country and enjoys great popularity.

From high-quality ceramics and interesting Japanese architecture to language and writing, there are many aspects of the culture that are simply interesting and have a certain exotic value.

Those who embody this well will attract attention and make a name for themselves.

Japanese martial arts also play a large part in this, as few things are as legendary as samurais, ninjas and their hidden abilities. The Samurai sword should not be missing in a wide variety of designs.

If this is also popular with you, you can use it as a Decorative object and also as a real sword in our shop - so just take a look at our range.
