Sakura Ishime Katana von Toshiro Swords. Bei der Herstellung wird ein besonderes Augenmerk auf Qualität und die Einsatzfähigkeit der Schwerter gelegt.
Sakura bedeutet Kirschblüte. Dieses Motiv ist ein wichtiges Element der asiatischen Kultur.
Die Klinge wurde aus Kohlenstoffstahl mit hohem Kohlenstoffgehalt im traditionellen Shinogi Zukuri Stil geschmiedet. Es ist eine Maru Kitae Klinge, die mit ca. 55 HRC komplett durchgehärtet wurde. Sie ist massiv und ein richtiges Schneidewerkzeug. Das merkt man sofort, wenn man das Schwert in der Hand hält. Die Klinge hat eine extreme Schärfe. Sie ist komplett geschärft und besitzt keine Fehlschärfe hin zum Griff, wie es bei anderen Schwertern häufig der Fall ist.
Der Griff des Schwertes ist aus Massivholz gefertigt und mit echter, rot gefärbter Same verziert. Der Griff verfügt über 2 Mekugi, die die Klinge zuverlässig halten. Die Griffwicklung besteht aus edler Baumwolle.
Die Schwertscheide ist im hochwertigen Ishime Stil gehalten mit schwarzer Lackierung und sie verfügt über ein dickes, gewebtes Sageo Band in Schwarz.

I already own several swords from different lines of modern manufacturers as well as unique handcrafted pieces. I have also been working with sharp swords in the field of Battojutsu/Iaijutsu for about 9 years and have therefore already been able to work with several blades. The Sakura Ishime, however, has inspired me in a new way and I am looking forward to working with it even more.
Optics:
Here you can get a very detailed koshirae (outfit) with the sakura (cherry blossom) theme for a good price.
- Tsuka Ito (handle winding) is made of cotton, which ensures a good grip
- The kashira (handle end) is made of metal and the details are neatly crafted. The sakura (cherry blossom) theme is shown to its best advantage here
- The red seed (ray skin) is a visual eye-catcher and stands out under the tsuka ito (handle wrapping)
- The Bo-Hi (hollow groove) not only gives the blade a modified look but also a modified weight, making it surprisingly easy to handle. The resulting cutting noise is a high but gentle whistling sound
- The tsuba (blade) is also made of metal and cleanly crafted. The cherry blossom theme comes into its own here
- The saya (sheath) is matt black with bumps that create a "rain effect"
- Koiguchi (sheath opening) holds the sword firmly
Cutting performance:
This sword is fascinatingly easy to handle. The bo-hi (hollow groove) makes it look very light and the centre of gravity is directly on the wielding hand. At first I was a little unsure whether the sword would be too light to cut tatami omote with. However, this concern was quickly dispelled.
- This sword does not have the slightest problem with soft and hard targets
- Beginners can also practise precise cutting here due to its ease. Advanced users can practise their coordination for quick successive cuts
- Although the blade construction with Bo-Hi (hollow groove) gives a light impression, you hardly feel any resistance even with hard targets
- The factory sharpness of my model was above average. Despite high demands, I would not have to re-sharpen anything for the time being
- With fully hardened Maru-Kitae (mono steel) blades, I occasionally had problems with high resistance on hard targets. With this sword, however, I felt almost nothing.
Shortcoming/Where were savings made?
- The price can probably be explained by the fact that the blade is completely through-hardened and no more complex clay-hardening methods were used. However, as I clearly described - I do not see the slightest disadvantage in the performance of the sword even after several tests
- A cotton suka has the disadvantage that it can only be wound less tightly than silk or cheaper synthetics. From my own experience, I know that even if they are well wound, they become looser a little earlier. You should familiarise yourself with the care of the tsuka (handle) at an early stage
This katana is an excellent product in terms of price/performance. The koshirae (mount) is playful and unique. It may be a little too playful for those who like it a little more masculine.
The performance of the blade is sensational and I can actually recommend it to everyone. Another product from Toshiro Swords that gives me a positive experience with Maru-Kitae (mono steel) blades. I have no complaints here and for this price you get a really great katana that in my opinion can compete with any other supplier in the same price range.

I have owned this one for quite some time. It is a very nice katana and very sharp for delivery.
