Every real blade is susceptible to rust. Regular care is therefore necessary to maintain the condition of your blade and permanently remove unwanted blemishes such as fingerprints.
Throughout the history of Japan, blade care for the globally respected Japanese samurai swords has been continuously optimised and Toshiro Swords produces the Samurai 2K sword care set based on this knowledge, which has matured over centuries, with the addition of modern elements that were not yet available in ancient times.
As swords and knives are both made of steel, the sets are very suitable for both knife care and sword care.
The set consists of the 5 elements you need for optimum blade care:
Special cloth for removing oil residues:
4 cloths made from natural cellulose, designed for removing dirt and old oil. These replace the tried and tested nuguigami paper because the modern pulp has even better properties.
Uchiko with blade powder:
Traditionally extracted from limestone. Toshiro Swords softens this mixture somewhat by adding more powder, which has a less abrasive effect on the blade to protect it. The modern mixture has a good effect and reliably removes old oil, dirt and the beginnings of rust.
Cotton cloth for applying new oil:
The set includes a reusable cotton cloth made from certified organic cotton and a matching box.
Maintenance oil:
The care oil contained is based on a mixture of the proven oils camellia oil and clove oil, also known as Tsubaki and Choji Abura. This has been supplemented with modern, high-quality ingredients to further improve its properties. The use of dubious ingredients such as petroleum, petroleum distillate and similar substances that are suspected of being carcinogenic has been deliberately avoided. In contrast to conventional weapon oils, the oil is neutral towards copper and brass and therefore protects these elements on the knife or sword.
The blade oil is durable, but deliberately kept less durable than lubricating and penetrating oils so that excess oil does not hang in the knife or sword sheath forever.
The set also includes detailed operating instructions in German and English with additional safety instructions and care tips.

Specially developed for swords with modern steel types, this maintenance set is the first choice. Original care sets from Japan should only be used for genuine Nihontos, as these steels require a different composition of oil and powder. With modern non-Japanese steel types (Tamahagane), you can really save yourself the higher price for original Japanese care sets. Especially as the oil bottle in the Japanese care set only contains approx. 20-30 ml. An absolute recommendation to buy.
