Beautifully crafted sword modelled on the sword of the legendary samurai Miyamoto Musashi.<\/p>\n
Musashi lived between the end of the Sengoku period and the beginning of the Edo period (between the 16th and 17th centuries) and is considered the best swordsman in Japanese history.<\/p>\n
But he was not only a gifted swordsman, he was also an artist and left behind self-made sword components for posterity.
The design of this sword with a red scabbard and the well-known Namako double-ring tsuba, also known as Musashi tsuba, is based on this.<\/p>\n
The blade (tsuba) is made of iron and very sturdy. The red scabbard is made of wood and reinforced with horn elements. A band (sageo) in the Shigeuchi style is also attached to the scabbard (saya). The pommel (kurigata) is positioned so that the sword can be worn optimally on the obi, for example for Iaido.<\/p>\n
The handle is wrapped with a cotton band (Ito). Hishigami paper is wrapped in the handle winding. The seed inlays are genuine. The handle (tsuka) is well adapted to the blade tang and a mekugi is used for an authentic look. The handle generally has an exceptionally high quality of workmanship for this price range.<\/p>\n
The blade is forged from T8 steel with differential hardening and genuine hamon. A hollow groove (Bo-Hi) is worked into the blade, which reduces the weight of the sword and produces a clearly audible sound when swinging. A yokote is visually incorporated into the blade.<\/p>\n
