Tsurumaru Katana sword with crane motif and Sendan scabbard with Ishime lacquer finish.<\/p>\n
The Tsurumaru Katana by Toshiro Swords has a characteristic tsuba with the crane with wings in a round arrangement. This motif bears its own name Tsurumaru, is one of the most popular motifs in Japanese art and can also be found in Japanese mon (family crests).
The sword has a Shinogi Zukuri blade made of T10 steel with clay hardening. It is sharpened and has a hardness of 60 HRC on the cutting edge. The sword is designed for cutting exercises with tatami mats and bamboo.
A wide Bo-Hi fuller has been worked into the blade to optimise the weight.<\/p>\n
The scabbard is decorated with a band of rattan. Above and over the rest of the scabbard, Ishime lacquer was applied, which creates a droplet effect on the scabbard.
The Ishime design is ideal for utility swords because it hardly leaves any fingerprints.<\/p>\n
The handle is made of solid wood and the wide blade tang is countered in the handle by two mekugi, which provides very good stability.<\/p>\n
