\nThere are many reasons for this. For example, beginners can train sword drawing without having to buy an additional Iaito.
\nA bokken is part of the basic equipment of a martial artist who trains sword fighting. An additional saya is always useful to complete the picture.
\nWith the saya, a bokken can be worn normally on the belt (obi) just like a normal sword.
\nWith the complete set of bokken and saya you can train with minimised risk of injury and the set is lighter than a metal sword with saya, which makes endurance training in particular much more pleasant.
\nIn addition, with a bokken there are fewer problems regarding the somewhat unclear legal situation that prevails in Germany with regard to swords with a metal blade.<\/p>\n
Although there are wooden sword sheaths for bokken, these require customisation. A plastic saya has become established, the advantage of which is that it has a comparatively low weight and the wooden sword can be drawn well with this saya.
\nIf you want to add a saya to your existing bokken, it is important to make sure that it matches the size and curvature of the bokken. After all, nothing is more annoying than a sword that tilts when you pull it out of the saya, barely moves out of the saya or falls out of the saya by itself. It is therefore important to pay close attention to the correct fit when buying.<\/p>\n
