I can recommend this katana with a clear conscience for decorative purposes as well as for beginners in the discipline of Tameshigiri against light targets.
Optics:
The workmanship is above average for this price, not to say excellent
- Tsuka Ito (handle winding) is tight and clean
- The kashira (handle end) is made of metal and the details are neatly worked out
- The polished hamon (harmony line) gives the sword a great look
- The Bo-Hi (hollow groove) not only gives it a visual appearance but also modifies the weight, making it surprisingly easy to handle
- The tsuba (stabbing blade) is also made of metal and cleanly crafted
- The saya (scabbard) has a beautiful blue colour with fine stripe details - really beautiful
- Koiguchi (sheath opening) holds the sword firmly
Cutting performance:
This sword is definitely suitable for beginners in Tameshigiri who are not yet aiming for hard targets such as bamboo, thick tatami mats or several of them and want to practise handling and simple cuts against soft targets. It has no problems with fruit, cardboard, PET bottles or Tetrapaks. I can only judge subjectively how durable it is, but at first glance the workmanship doesn't look bad. The factory sharpness is definitely sufficient, but can still be optimised. But that is nothing unusual. If you want to work with a katana for a longer period of time or practise Iaido/Iaijutsu/Battojutsu/Kenjutsu, you will have to learn how to care for the sword sooner or later anyway, which includes resharpening. Here too, a 1045 steel is well suited for beginners as it is softer.
Shortcoming/Where were savings made?
At €79 you have to be honest - you have to save money somewhere.
However, I only noticed that the sword does not sit perfectly in the back of the saya and if you "shake" it (which you shouldn't do without it) it rattles a little. Apart from that, I have to say that in 20 years I have only been able to buy very few swords with a comparable price/performance ratio.

Everything went very well, fast delivery - super product. The Katana is really great, coloured Sageo, pretty Menukis great eye-catcher. The hamon line of the sharp blade also looks great. It came well oiled in a very nice sword sheath... And at an absolutely correct price. Thank you. Your videos on accessories and care are also very interesting.

I haven't cut anything with it and I don't know what the quality will be like in the future. Nevertheless, I think it's really great for the price.
Simply a beautiful eye-catcher for me.
