Although only a few examples of Kunimasa have survived, his forging technique is considered outstanding. His work is modelled on the blades of Horikawa Kunihiro.
He was active in the province of Yamashiro (now Kyoto) during the Edo period.

Classic blade in the style of Shinto swords and the Horikawa school.
Very beautiful, active Itame Hada with Hataraki like Yubashiri and Chikei.
Notare Hamon with light midare sections. Aranire and ashi can be recognised on the blade.
A Marutome fuller is worked into the blade.
Tsuba, menuki, fuchi and kashira are from the same period as the blade and give the sword a harmonious overall appearance.
The sword is in very good general condition.
The blade is rated Tokubetsu Hozon (especially worthy of preservation) by the NBTHK. The NBTHK certificate is included in the offer.
The offer also includes the beautiful Uchigatana Koshirae. The blade is also mounted in Shirasaya.
