A wakizashi of unknown origin - supposedly original and old

600 EUR VHB

Description:

An heirloom that is supposedly a real sword.

Genuine in the sense that it was made in Japan as an actual sword and for its original purpose,
and not as a sales item that is only made "like a sword".

Unfortunately, the condition is relatively poor. It was probably once rusty and was improperly polished.
It was probably modified several times over the course of time.

Nevertheless, it is a great and fascinating piece.
It fits well in the hand, the sheath/saya is tight and does not fall off when you hold the whole thing vertically downwards by the handle,

Without saya it weighs about 890 grams and the centre of gravity is about 15 cm in front of the tsuba.
Length of the blade from tsuba to tip approx. 67 cm
Length incl. handle approx. 92 cm

There are no papers.
I tried to find contacts at the Eko House for Japanese Culture in Düsseldorf to get feedback on the sword,
but unfortunately had no luck.
In the SBG Sword Forum, several people have confirmed on the basis of photos that it should indeed be a real blade,
but this information is of course relatively unfounded.

All information is given to the best of our knowledge and belief.
It can be inspected and examined in detail on collection.
We would be delighted if it came into good hands,
because it's just lying around here and we'd like to shed some ballast.
Over time, more and more possessions pile up, which somehow become a burden.

The location is Düsseldorf Flingern.
