Product description:
High-quality samurai sword with a sharp blade.
The Maru blade is made of carbon steel with more than 0.6% carbon content. The blade has been treated with traditional clay tempering. This treatment results in a real Hamon (hardening line), which is designed in the Chu Suguha (straight Hamon) style. In addition, the blade was treated with the Sashikomi blade polish, which is normally used on historical swords.
This particularly emphasises the hardening line and results in an exclusive look, as this type of polish is also used on much more expensive swords.
The blade is sharpened.
The handle also differs from other modern swords at first glance. Hishigami (paper triangles) are incorporated into the handle winding. These give the winding additional structure and are a must for high-quality swords.
The solid wood handle is so well adapted to the blade tang that a mekugi (bamboo pin) is sufficient to hold the blade in the handle.
This also corresponds to the design of much more expensive swords.
The beautiful scabbard with Ishime (drop-like) lacquer finish rounds off the high-quality look of the sword perfectly.
All in all a very high quality Katana, which is of course also suitable for cutting exercises.

My copy arrived today and I feel like I'm holding a museum exhibit in my hand. The quality of the workmanship is Nihonto-like in all respects. The blade polish is beautifully done and shows very well at different angles under the same light what a Sashikomi polish is all about. You can imagine how many hours of work must have gone into this alone. As for the sharpness: the sword is a laser! Tsukamaki super-firm, even diamonds, no protruding edges at the ends, everything blends together very smoothly, excellent feel. It is also nice how the narrow tsuka naturally follows the sori. Excellent balance. The saya fits perfectly, nothing wobbles or shakes.
Price/performance is top. I would also like to express my appreciation once again for the friendly and professional way in which the customer service was handled by e-mail and on the phone. Many thanks and best wishes, I am really delighted.

The Katana arrived very quickly as it was available directly from the shop. My telephone contact to enquire about the arrival of the payment amount and the possible prompt dispatch was also very friendly and pleasant. Thank you again for that.
Now to the katana itself.
All parts are of very high quality, nothing is loose or rattles, and the specifications are as stated in the item description. The sword alone, mind you without the BoHi, weighs around 1050 g and has its centre of gravity about 17 cm in front of the tsuba. I measured the total length of the blade from the tsuba at 73.3 cm. The blade width tapers from 30 mm at the tsuba to 22 mm at the kissaki. The blade thickness tapers in the same way from around 7 mm to 5 mm. The handling is OK, the piece is well sharpened and the hardening line is very nicely worked out. The Katana passed the cutting test with a tatami mat, soaked for a day and then left to dry for half a day, with flying colours. As I had tied the mat with 3 more jute threads in addition to the existing bindings, I was able to make 5 cuts. Each of the cuts, some made diagonally and some at right angles to the mat, literally went through like a piece of butter. The cut surfaces all look very clean and smooth. I'm delighted and I'm sure that 2, maybe even 3 mats in a row shouldn't be a problem, given the right trial and error / training. All in all, a very good, very stable katana that is also particularly suitable for cutting tests.

A really beautiful katana. Very similar to a Nihonto. Well, the 1060 is not the last word in wisdom. BUT the blade really gets everything out of it. The Koshirae with only one Mekugi as well. What else can you say? Everything sits bombproof, disassemble - assemble, without bugs. So it fits, but you can't get it for €100!
